We are currently working with around 2000 Ugandan farmers who each farm on average a total of just three acres. Many of these farmers are in the northern part of Uganda which until recently was disrupted by an armed conflict which resulted in most of the rural population seeking refuge in the towns and villages.
The best way to assist these farmers in returning to the land and re-establishing successful communities is to engage with them in a sustainable, commercial way. Growing for Simply Hibi provides farmers with an opportunity to generate a dependable and much needed cash income which is otherwise difficult to secure.
In addition to the opportunity to generate a cash income, we also provide our farmers with training in organic farming methods and practices. This is especially useful as the relative cost of inorganic chemicals and fertilisers is very high and the knowledge of organic methods can be applied to the growing of food crops as well as hibiscus.
